10 Things To Tick Off Your Honeymoon Bucket List

Bawah Reserve, with its luxe Robinson Crusoe exclusivity in the middle of Indonesia’s
Anambas archipelago, is the best honeymoon destination for newlyweds in search of privacy,
untouched nature and the best that barefoot luxury has to offer.

1. Travel in a seaplane

Bawah knows how to make an entrance. Guests enjoy an arrival via an 80-minute journey in our amphibious seaplane with unparalleled views of the South China Sea.

The seaplane gently touches down in our main lagoon and within minutes you’ll be
lounging in your suite. It’s a WOW experience before you ever step foot on the island.

2. Stay in an overwater bungalow

Nothing says tropical romance more  than an overwater bungalow. They offer complete privacy and uninterrupted views from your balcony to the horizon. Slide open your doors to idyllic ocean water all around you. Bawah Reserve offers 11 stunning overwater bungalows, each with steps that lead directly into the ocean.

3. Kayak at sunrise

With water sports included in your stay, many guests make it a daily ritual to kayak around
the island.  A favourite time is at daybreak when the stunning pink sunrise hits the tips of the
coral just below the water’s edge. Mornings are also the best chance to see Bawah’s turtles  and other marine life.   Our clear kayaks provide a one-of-a-kind visual experience of the underwater paradise around the islands.

4. Picnic on a private beach

This one is for the romantics! Forget breakfast in bed – surprise your new spouse with
something extra special like breakfast, lunch or sunset drinks at one of our 13 secluded
beaches. Or take picnicking to the next level with a boat ride to a private island beach for a
three-course castaway lunch for two. It’s all the glory of beachfront dining without any of the
effort.

5. Snorkel with sharks

Dive into our aquamarine waters from your overwater balcony and watch a colourful marine
world come to life. Thanks to Bawah’s unique location as a reserve, the water is teeming with
marine life and vivid corals, not to mention small blacktip reef sharks –
don’t worry, these docile creatures don’t bite.

Swim and snorkel in this stunning sanctuary and marvel at the parrotfish, trumpet fish and stingrays at home in the reserve. Or explore farther afield with our dive experts who can advise on the best snorkelling spots in the area.

6. Spot shooting – and Hollywood – stars

Come nightfall, marvel as the evening skies erupt in sparkling stars. Enjoy a refreshing
nightcap on the beach whilst gazing at the stunning canopy overhead. Spot Jupiter and the
rings of Saturn with our telescope on the beach.

If Hollywood stars are more your style, our twice-weekly outdoor cinema nights at the beach and pool are the places to spot them. We can also arrange private film screenings on your villa’s verandah for a more intimate movie-watching experience.

7. Enjoy massages on your own private island

Because often a one-hour massage is not quite enough to ease away your tensions, why not
make a morning of it? We will whisk you away on a short boat trip for a secluded spa
experience on one of our islands across the lagoon. After your treatment, maintain the zen
with a cup of tea and gourmet snacks and explore the rest of the island before heading back to
your suite.

8. Embark on romantic sunset cruises

Choose your favourite tipple, add some delicious canapes and step aboard your private boat
for two. We will cruise you around our 6 islands and 3 lagoons under beautiful sunset skies
before returning you directly to your suite.

9. Dive with a marine conservation biologist

Have a wedding and save the planet? Although the reefs surrounding Bawah Reserve are
incredibly healthy, marine biologists (in conjunction with Bawah Anambas Foundation) have
identified several reefs in need of love and repair. Our diving guests are invited
to join the biologists to repopulate these areas with healthy coral. Not certified? Get your
accreditations while staying on our island and enjoying diving holidays with your spouse for
many years to come.

10. Sip Afternoon Tea in the Gardens

Bawah is decidedly Indonesian in style and substance, but some British traditions are too
hard to let go. Indulge in afternoon tea in one of our traditional Indonesian pavilions followed
by a game of croquet on the lawn. With our gorgeous permaculture gardens as a backdrop,
this is the perfect way to spend a peaceful afternoon in paradise.
