The Bawah Guide to Wellbeing

Wellbeing is the buzz word of the moment. But what exactly is it? And, most importantly how
can we achieve it?

The Oxford English Dictionary defines well-being as “the state of being comfortable, healthy, or
happy”. So what if we are in full health, but not happy? Or vice versa?

 

Psychology Today explains wellbeing in a more holistic way  as: “the experience of
health, happiness, and prosperity. It includes having good mental health, high life satisfaction,
and a sense of meaning or purpose”.

Lisa Jones is the wellbeing manager at Bawah Reserve. She encourages guests to focus on the
Six Pillars of wellbeing which are: physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social and
environmental. They are all interrelated and influence each other, for true well-being is the
delicate balance of all pillars. If one dimension is lacking, then your mind, happiness, stress levels
and relationships can be askew. That’s why Bawah believes that well-being is best accomplished
by looking inside ourselves as well as our environment, be it the nature or people that surround
us.

Balancing your wellbeing is simple; there are skills you can learn through experience and
guidance. Wellbeing is a product of your thoughts, actions and experiences, most of which you
have control over.

If only we could put a pause button on life to rebalance ourselves. For many people, the first
step to attaining well-being and happiness is to actively plan a holiday in a place where you can
